Campfire Tales Lore of the Olympic National Forest

By R.S. Hughes

Dee M.- This little book has bottled the essence of the Pacific Northwest and poured it into 17 unforgettable tales. This book doesn’t just entertain—it deepens your connection to the forest itself. Whether you're nestled in a tent or curled up at home, each story feels like a whispered legend passed down through generations. A must-have for anyone who finds magic in moss-covered trees and moonlit trails.

George. B.- Campfire Tales delivers exactly what it promises: eerie, adrenaline-pumping stories that make you glance over your shoulder. Hughes masterfully blends folklore, suspense, and wilderness survival into a collection that’s impossible to put down. I read it in one sitting—and then re-read it aloud around an actual campfire. The monsters and mysteries feel so real, you’ll swear something’s watching you from the woods.

College 4fun- I like this book. When you want to share ghost stories around a fire with a group of friends this is the book ta have in your back pocket. It delivers. I wouldn't say this book is for kids. It may give them nightmares. Definitely regional and about WA State Olympic National Park. I wish it had some Bigfoot stories.

Moroni S.- This book is a treasure trove of regional lore, beautifully written and hauntingly atmospheric. Hughes doesn’t just tell stories—he resurrects forgotten whispers of the Olympic National Forest and gives them voice. Each tale is a portal into the uncanny, where history and myth blur. It’s perfect for readers who crave depth, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural.
